September – Life Insurance Awareness Month

September – Life Insurance Awareness Month

September is Life Insurance Awareness Month: Is Your Policy Still Meeting Your Needs?

September is recognized as Life Insurance Awareness Month, a reminder of just how important it is to protect the people who matter most. Life insurance isn’t something you buy once and forget about—it’s a tool that should grow and adapt with your life.

Why Review Your Life Insurance Policy?

Over time, life changes—and so do your financial responsibilities. A policy that fit your needs five or ten years ago may not fully protect your family today. Reviewing your coverage ensures your loved ones are still safeguarded, no matter what life brings.

Key Life Changes That Call for a Review

Consider revisiting your policy if you’ve experienced any of the following:

  • Marriage or Divorce – Your coverage amount or beneficiaries may need updating.

  • New Children or Grandchildren – Expanding families often mean greater financial responsibilities.

  • Buying a Home – A mortgage may increase the need for coverage.

  • Career Changes or Retirement – Changes in income or benefits can impact your protection needs.

  • Health Changes – Your health may affect future insurability, making it important to secure coverage now.

  • Policy Age – Older policies may no longer be cost-effective or offer modern features like living benefits.

What to Look For in Your Review

When reviewing your life insurance policy, ask yourself:

  • Does my coverage amount still reflect my family’s financial needs?

  • Are my beneficiaries up to date?

  • Is my policy type (term, whole life, or universal) still the best fit?

  • Are there opportunities to add riders or living benefits?

  • Could I save money by comparing new options?

Take Action This Month

Life Insurance Awareness Month is the perfect reminder to sit down, review your policy, and make sure it’s still aligned with your goals. If you don’t currently have coverage, now is a great time to explore your options and give your family the peace of mind they deserve.

Bottom Line: Life insurance is about more than money—it’s about love, protection, and security. Use this month as your annual check-in to ensure your coverage still reflects the life you’re living today.

Need help reviewing your policy? We’d be happy to walk through your options and make sure your plan is the right fit.
